Electoral Commission Announces Measures for Voting Transfers for Inmates, Students, and Security Personnel

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced a series of measures aimed at facilitating voting for prison inmates, students and security personnel.

Amidst Monday’s Inter- Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting in Accra, the EC said that from July 3rd to 5th, 2024 tthese groups will be allowed to transfer their votes into the constituencies where they are currently residing.

This includes prison inmates who are not yet registered voters.

They will be registered as part of the Mop-Up limited voter registration exercise from August 1st to 3rd, 2024.

However, it was emphasized that students will not be able to transfer their votes from campus to other constituencies.

According to Mr Rudolph Chireh, Upper Denkyira East Electoral officer, Students wishing to transfer their votes to their campus constituencies will need to provide their student ID cards as proof of their enrollment.
