Two Suspected illegal miners have been arrested for allegedly assaulting a military officer at Wassa Akyempim

Two Suspects identified as twins have been arrested for the butchering of Timothy Agyekum who’s still under medical treatment at the hospital.

A Military Officer among two others who went on patrol at a site in Wassa Akyempim, Wassa East in the Western Region and was attacked seriously by 4 illegal miners at the site.

Amidst the investigation of the Atteku Police Department, they got hold of one of the suspects who was on a motorbike to Twifo Atimorkwa where they arrested him.

Reports gathered says, another suspect who’s the twin brother of the first suspect was also arrested at a pub while he was drinking and having fun.
However, two more suspects are yet to be found as they took to their heels from the scene and has since not returned.

Meanwhile, Assembly member of the Akyempim Electoral Area, Hon.Joseph Akomeah told the media that the twins have been in the act of causing troubles in the area for years;

“They both harassed and stabbed me in the back till I was unconscious. I reported them to the police and they were arrested and jailed so they’re even ex-convicts”, he noted.

The Wassa East District Police Command is still hoping to find the other two suspects to be charged and taken to court for judgment.
