The DVLA records 122 vehicle registrations in Dunkwa On-Offin.

The Director of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality, Central Region, Mr. Justice Cudjoe, provided an update on the Digital Registration Exercise for Vehicles and Motorcycles. He mentioned that they have registered 122 vehicles, motorcycles, tricycles, and buses so far, and they expect more registrations in the future.

Mr. Justice Cudjoe highlighted that their main challenge has been internet connectivity for biometric purposes, causing disruptions during the registration process. He also noted that another issue they face is vehicle owners delegating the registration to their drivers, which is not feasible.

He expressed his satisfaction with the authority’s decision to allow them to handle the registration and issuance of license plates solely in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality, Dunkwa, instead of having to go to headquarters.

Mr Justice emphasized the importance of updating ownership details when a vehicle is sold, as the digital registration is linked to the Ghana Card. He also reminded vehicle and motorcycle owners about the legal requirement for registration, urging them to comply to avoid legal consequences.
