Biometric registration of vehicles progressing at Dunkwa On-Offin DVLA

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority(DVLA), Dunkwa On-Offin office, in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality has started its maiden registration for vehicles and motorbikes in the Municipality, as part of the organization’s efforts to ensure good driving standards throughout the country.

Mr. Justice Cudjoe who’s the DVLA Boss in the Dunkwa On-Offin Office, presented a special Prefix (CN1) purposely meant for the Member of Parliament, Hon. Festus Awuah Kwoffie and also handed out a License Identification Card that finalizes the registration of the Honorable Member’s Vehicle.

Mr. Justice said the MP, Hon. Festus Awuah Kwoffie is a pacesetter and indeed a leader who has paved the way for others to follow.

“This is part of the digital transformation of the country, a registration made easier and simple to prevent fraudulent activities as well as victims who pay funds to the wrong people”, he added.

Hon. Festus Awuah Kwoffie acknowledged the good of the DVLA, also thanked Dr. Odiamono Ntiri Twum Berima II and the Dunkwa Traditional Council of Chiefs for releasing a Land, for the purpose of a new Office construction for the Dunkwa DVLA.

The Lawmaker also assured that the new office will be commissioned, come September 2024.

Hon. Ebenezer Appiah Forson, the Municipal Chief Executive who was also present, thanked the Vice President for coming up with the digitalization strategy and also the DVLA, Dunkwa office was adopting the idea to save stress and fraudulent practices in the DVLA organization.

Speaking with Denkyiraman Radio, Mr. John Kwesi Donkor who’s the Vehicle Examiner for the DVLA giving a summary of the process, in Dunkwa explained that DVLA was established on 6th December 2006 in Dunkwa and this happens to be their first registration exercise.

The registration process which started on Monday, 25th March 2024 has been quite a tough one due to the absence of vehicle owners who are needed for verification of the vehicles and biometric identification requirements.

Mr. John Donkor claimed to have registered one vehicle with the registration number of (CN28-24) as the prefix and 2 motorbikes so far. He also said four vehicle’s verification process is underway and will soon be up for registration.

Mr. John Donkor added that the DVLA is expected to register 999,000 vehicles before moving forward to the next registration Prefix which is CK, also for the Upper Denkyira East municipality.

However, in the Upper Denkyira East 300-600 vehicles are aimed at being registered.

Mr. John Donkor urged vehicle owners and drivers to take the opportunity to register their vehicles, as the don’t have to travel far for it. Also he advised vehicle owners to make themselves available for clarification and biometric identification to make the registration process easier and faster.

“Massive Education from the media, stakeholders and the organization itself is ongoing to promote the need for the registration process. A lot of Drivers and vehicle owners may still not hear about it, therefore it’ll be best if individuals who hear about it also prompt others to register”,
