A 25 year old Godfred Bobi has been allegedly murdered into a mining pit at Denkyira Brofoyedu in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region.
The incident occurred on Thursday March 14 whiles the body was retrieved on Saturday March 16th.
According to the Kyidomhene of Brofoyedu, Nana Francis Gyebi Dacosta popularly known as “Nyabi a, Enye”, the concession owner, One Robert has abandoned all the pits without reclamation which pose is a threat to the community.
He lamented on how the pits have been abandoned for almost two years. Also said the man in question (Robert) has left the community, meanwhile he still owes the land owner some amount of money which he has refused to pay.
This however triggered the land owner to order the Town boys who have the desire to mine in the left over pits,to go and take over.
The guys upon setting up their machines on the first day, Wednesday March 14th, decided to go and take the sample on the following day Thursday but from nowhere Robert, allegedly hired able bodied men accompanied with police personnels all the way from Dunkwa On Offin to pounce on them, leaving one Bobi dead into one of the site pools.
Nana Gyebi said Robert had never performed any social intervention in the community since he came to the area for mining.
Godfred Bobi, the deceased left behind one wife with two children.
Pouring libation to retrieve the body, the chiefs rained curses on Robert to be involved in a gory accident if he moved a vehicle on any road or tried to bribe the police to make the case a “foolish case”.
The chiefs said Robert is such a villain to the extent that he has not done any developmental projects in the community yet keeps disrespecting the chiefs.
“You’ve abandoned the pits without reclamation and as we thought of making use of the Poole, you’ve unlawfully hired macho men to kill our neighbour, you’ll never survive in life, Angry residents cried out”.
The macho men and the police personnels after allegedly murdering Bobi, also arrested seven guys on the site.
Chief of Denkyira Brofoyedru has bailed his men at the Dunkwa Atechem police station after retrieving the body of Bobi on the Saturday.
