Upper Denkyira East municipal Assembly Celebrate Ghana’s 67th Independence Day.

The 67th independence celebration as being celebrated in the Nation is no exception to the people of Upper Denkyira East municipal, in the Central Region and Dunkwa On-Offin precisely.

Today 6th March 2024 is as usual another memorable day in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality.

At the Dunkwa Youth Resource Center was the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Ebenezer Forson Appiah, Chiefs from the Denkyira Traditional Council, Dunkwahene, students, teachers, security officers, heads of various schools, Religious leaders, the media and other stakeholders commemorate and Parade in respect to the Nation and celebration of Ghana’s 67th Independence Day.

The Municipal Chief Executive addressed the occasion as he noted key issues affecting the municipality, especifically Dunkwa.

He spoke about waste management, which causes the Assembly huge sums of money and called on stakeholders to help manage waste in the municipality.

The Upper Denkyira East municipal was ranked 2nd most cleaned Municipality during the 2022 regional ranking held in cape Coast. The Hon. Ebenezer Forson Appiah reminded the people gathered and the Municipality at large to stick to this as well as ensuring to become first in the next ranking.

He noted that the people of Dunkwa should desist from taking laws into their own hands and rather do things to the detriment of our peace as a nation.

“We should be proud of our selves as Ghanaians and work towards the development of the country”He said.

“ As we are aware, Ghana is at the crossroads again to elect a new crop of leadership for this country. It is important to know that the world is watching to see how Ghana would go about the elections come 7th December 2024” He noted.

The MCE concluded that the security of our dear nation can not be compromised, and therefore should be a shared responsibility. “As good citizens we should be “whistle blowers” so that any nefarious acts of criminalities in the society could be nipped in the bud”.

“As the National Security has launched “see something, say something” initiative, wrong doings should not be condoned.

Amidst the celebration, some schools were awarded for representing their respective schools and winning this year’s March past competition as part of the ceremonial occasion.

25 schools in total participated for the event, including three Senior High Schools in the municipality.

Kofi Ashia School won at the Basic schools level, followed by Church of Christ Int. School taking the second place and Dunkwa Presby Primary took the third position.

The Presbyterian JHS emerged first position, as Dunkwa Methodist JHS, taking a second position and Roman Catholic Girls Accumulated the third place in the Junior High Schools award.

Private schools in the Municipality were also awarded for their participation.

The Amissahkrom M/A basic school came first, New Bibianiha M/A emerged second followed by Mercy’s Int. School.

At the SHS level, Boa Amponsem Senior High School maintained its first position as last year. Dunkwa Senior High School came up second while Kyekyewere Senior High School was third.

Some Students as well as Teachers expressed amusement over their awards and positions as they shared words of gratitude to the Organizers and Dignitaries present at the ceremony.

The Ambulance Service, led by Mr. Charles Dawson gave an account while speaking to Denkyiraman Radio Online that Eleven students fainted during Parade.

Ten of the students were taking care of with first aid from the Ambulance Service personnels present, while one who needed proper medical attention was immediately taken to the hospital.

Mr Dawson assured Denkyiraman Radio online and everyone present on the occasion that there had been no serious casualties and the patient at the hospital was fine.
