DCE LAUDS PRESIDENT FOR INVESTING IN AGRICULTURE

The District Chief Executive for Upper Denkyira West District Assembly, Hon. Richmond Koduah, has applauded President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo for Investing in Agriculture.

He made this observation during the 39th National Farmers Day Commemoration at Agona-Port in the upper Denkyira west district of the central region.

According to Hon. Richmond Koduah, Nana Addo’s Implementation of the Planting for Food and Jobs policy has helped farmers.

“It is imperative to note that the Akuffo-Addo Government in its attempt to enhance food security has never relented its effort to providing input credit system, fertilizers improved seedlings and adoption of good agronomic practices to farmers leading to increased productivity” he stated.

He added that the provision of the said incentives cut across all two hundred and sixty-one (261) Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in connection with the Planting for Food and Jobs initiative.

He also revealed that the Upper Denkyira West District Assembly through the Department of Agriculture carried out the under-listed activities geared towards improved productivity: Distributed 16,000 oil palm seedlings to farmers across the District, Supervised the sale of 2,250kgs (50bags of 45kg) of seed maize to farmers within the District, Facilitated the sale of 10,00kg of NPK fertilizer (400bags of 25kg), it partnered the Minerals Development Fund to distribute over 500 pieces of cutlass and gloves to oil palm farmers across the length and breadth of the District.

The DCE for Upper Denkyira West concluded that the district Assembly in its effort to increase oil palm production has intensified its monitoring activities to ensure that the proposed oil palm processing Mill to be situated at Nkwantanum gets enough supply of raw materials for its day-to-day production when completed.

The overall 2023 best Farmer for Upper Denkyira West district Mr Boahen Stephen, who is from Denkyira Ntom advised all youth to involve themselves in Farming.

According to, Mr. Stephen Boahen, investing in Farming is an eternal thing to do while partaking in galamsey can only make you earn quick money and that can ruin your life at a point in time.

He urges the government to also reduce prices of farming equipment so that the upcoming youth can be convinced to partake in Agriculture to boost the economy.
