Dengue Fever Outbreak in Central Region: GHS Intensifies Efforts Amid Rising Cases

Several cases of Dengue fever have been recorded in the Central Region.
Although the exact number of cases is not yet known, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) is intensifying efforts to investigate and contain the spread of the disease.

The Eastern Region has already recorded 11 cases, with over 100 samples sent to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for testing.

Meanwhile the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) Mr Joseph Boahen Aidoo, has advised residents in affected areas to take precautions against mosquito bites during the day, and has assured to task his scientists to run tests to determine if these mosquitoes are likely to be “Andis Mosquitoes”, as he termed it.

He noted that if these mosquitoes are presumed to be Andis mosquitoes then the entire country must be protected and it should be treated as a major problem.
