The Global Fund has expressed its excitement about the Health Minister, Dr. Okoe Boye Bernard’s assurance of clearing the long awaited Drugs that were stuck at the Port.
Some notable amounts of Anti-Retroviral Drugs and some other medicines, have been kept at the Port with the Government demanding for duty payment and taxes on it before it could be released.
The Global Fund Association has been at the forefront, trying all means to negotiate with the Government to release the medicines without delay and any payments as its benefits the citizens of the country.
However, the Dr. Okoe Boye in an interview has assured the public and the association of preparations and measures which are in place for the clearance of the medicines within 2 weeks.
The Global Fund Director, Mr. Ernest Amoabeng Austin on this news from the Health Ministry, expressed some excitement over the decision.
“We do appreciate the Minister’s thoughtful approach towards the medicines going to where it should. We hope that what’s expected to be done will be done within the time frame given” he added.
