Over 70 people challenged in the voters registration exercise in Upper Denkyira East Municipality.

The limited registration process conducted by the Electoral Commission for the Upper Denkyira East Municipality ended successfully on Wednesday, 29th May.

The Municipal EC boss, Mr. Rudoth Chire, expressed his satisfaction with the conduct of the registrants, including those who had just turned 18 years old and first-time adult registrants.

Mr. Rudoth Chire reported that the EC registered 1,578 females and 1,329 males, with 79 cases being challenged. He explained that the challenged cases are currently under review and will be resolved to ensure that citizens can exercise their right to vote.

In addition, he announced that the EC is undertaking three separate registration exercises: the transfer of voter registration, the proxy process starting from 30th May to June 14, and the replacement of voter cards.

He advised individuals who wish to transfer their voter registration or replace their voter cards to take advantage of the opportunity. Mr. Rudoth Chire also highlighted that people traveling out of the country or their constituency can transfer their votes or utilize the proxy process. Moreover, individuals with misplaced voter cards can get replacements from 30th May to 7th December to ensure they can vote.
