Green Ghana Day to Plant 230,000 Seedlings in Upper Denkyira East

Green Ghana Day is set to take place in June 2024, continuing its annual tradition of nationwide tree planting.

Christian Duodu, representing the Upper Denkyira East Municipal Forestry Commission, shared insights into the preparations for this significant event. In an interview with Denkyiraman’s New Stream, Duodu emphasized the Commission’s readiness for the occasion.

“We’re gearing up to plant 150,000 seedlings in Dunkwa On-Offin alone, with an additional 80,000 across the broader Upper Denkyira East municipality, alongside other regions throughout the country,” Duodu revealed.

He encouraged active participation from individuals, particularly farmers, urging them to integrate tree planting into their agricultural practices. While the Forestry Commission focuses on forested areas, Duodu stressed the importance of community involvement in expanding green spaces.

Furthermore, Duodu called upon residents and government officials within the municipality to safeguard these newly planted trees, recognizing them as invaluable national assets.

“Any actions that jeopardize the integrity of these tree sites should be avoided, and instead, efforts should be made to ensure their protection for the benefit of future generations,” he concluded.
