GES reacts to teacher unions’ strike

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued an official statement ordering junior and senior high school head teachers to maintain school operations despite the ongoing strike staged by the three teacher unions.
The head teachers are also required to ensure the safety of students during their time at school.


In a press release issued on Wednesday, March 20, GES reassured parents to remain calm, emphasising that management is actively monitoring the situation.
Additionally, Regional and District Directors have been directed to ensure that Heads keep schools open and closely supervise all children who report to school pending further directives from Management of GES.


This statement is at the back of three teacher unions, namely the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT), initiating a strike.
