Akufo-Addo swears in new Justices of the Supreme Court

On Wednesday, 3rd January 2024, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was sworn into office with three Justices of the Supreme Court.

Their appointments have been necessitated by vacancies created on the Court as a result of the mandatory retirements of Justice Nene Ofoe Amegatcher on 3rd February 2023, Chief Justice Anin Yeboah on 24th May 2023, and Justice Jones Dotse on 8th June 2023.

Mr Akufo-Addo congratulated Justice Henry Anthony Kwofie, Justice Yaw Darko Asare and Justice Richard Adjei-Frimpong, newly sworn Members of the Supreme Court, on their appointments to the highest Court of the land, the Supreme Court.

“They have each met the stringent requirements for appointment, outlined in article 128 clause 4 of the Constitution, and are deemed to have the independence of spirit, high moral character, proven integrity and impartiality of mind to hold this high office.

“Their appointments are, thus, truly well-deserved and merited,” he said.
