Lady Mart Foundation fetes 500 widows.

On 4th January 2022, the Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) of Ghana Tourism Authority and Denkyiraman radio started with a foundation, basically to help windows in the Upper Denkyira East municipality to honor his late Mother Mrs. Martha Owusu (lady Mart) . A strong woman who lived a fulfilling lifestyle to see her children and grandchildren succeed before her demise in 2021. Since then, the foundation has celebrated widows and showered them with gifts, food and other items at the end of every year. Last year a similar event was held in her honor where 600 widow’s were celebrated.

The third edition of Lady Mart widow’s mite program was successfuly held on Friday 29th of December 2023, at the forecourt of the Wisely Methodist church, Dunkwa..

The memorable event had most of her children, grandchildren, and family members in attendance.

Food, packages and assorted drinks were delivered to the widows, while health professionals were also invited to check on several health conditions some of the widows has been experiencing.

Dignitaries that graced the occasion includes the member of parliament for upper denkyira East constituency Hon. Dr. Festus Awuah Kwofie, the Municipal chief executive of upper denkyira East municipal, the clergy, as well as staffers from Denkyiraman radio who made sure a hundred percent productivity was achieved in the event and for the general public to hear of it.

Mr. Akwasi Agyeman, Chief Executives officer of Ghana Tourism Authority, ceased the opportunity to thank everyone who made it to the program and contributed in diverse ways. According to him, opportunities would be given to widows who’d want to learn a skill to have a trade for support as from next year March 2024 hopefully. “The foundation would start with the maiden edition of the training to enable the growth of the widows and lady mart foundation at large in honor of the go getter and resilient woman, the reason behind his foundation”, he added.

On his part the member of parliament for upper denkyira East constituency Hon. Festus Awuah kwofie, also sang praises to the family who made this initiative a success and called it one of a kind. He urged the widows to keep their fingers crossed and always say a prayer for Lady Mart foundation and it partners at large as there’s more to do in the years to come.

The Municipal chief executive, Hon Ebenezer Appiah Forson wasn’t exceptional in this milestone. He added up few words to that of the Mp’s submission, and thanked Mr.Akwasi Agyeman and his team for putting so much laughter on the faces of the widows in his municipality. He also stated that he’d do everything in his power as a leader to help with his contribution for the future of the lady Mart foundation.

The event was crowned with a word of encouragement and prayer from the first Daughter of lady Mart. Mrs Lucy Osei Bempong (Osofomaame).
