Do not engage yourselves in illegal mining- Denkyirahemaa cautions Sub-Chiefs.

The Queen-mother of Denkyira, Nana Ama Ayensua Saara lll, has cautioned Chiefs not to involve themselves in illegal mining activities popularly known as “Galamsey”.

According to Nana Ama Ayensua Saara, she will never come to the rescue of any chief who is found engaging in illegal mining (galamsey) within the Denkyira enclave.

Nana Hemaaa this statement when she was addressing the chiefs and good people of Denkyira at the last Adaekesie celebration which was held on Sunday, 26th November,2023 at Jukwa.

According to the Denkyirahema, illegal mining activities in and around Denkyira have affected the development of the Community.

“Most water our water bodies and forest reserves have been destroyed and damaged most especially causing Destruction to cocoa production in some communities gradually”, he added.

She was of the view that the fight against illegal mining is not the sole responsibility of politicians and the Government but the responsibility of all Citizens in Ghana.

She urged all the chiefs and elders of Denkyira to come on board to help the government’s vision to end illegal mining in the country. She also pledged to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure that illegal mining activities have been curbed.
